Steady Summer Bite for Reds, Trout & Flounder Along Georgia’s Coastal Creeks fishing report coverpicture

June 18, 2025

Midway Historic District - Liberty, GA BackCountry Report on 18th Jun, 2025

The inshore bite around Midway, GA is heating up with the summer pattern settling in. Anglers fishing the creeks, marsh edges, and deeper bends of the Medway and Jerico Rivers are seeing solid action—especially during the early morning or late evening tides when water temps are cooler. Speckled trout are biting well on live shrimp under popping corks, particularly around grassy points and oyster bars on a moving tide. Most of the catches are in the 14–18” range, with some larger ones mixed in. Soft plastics in natural colors are also producing, especially during the outgoing tide. Redfish (slot and over-slot) are cruising the flooded grass on higher tides. Sight fishing has been productive for those using gold spoons, Gulp shrimp, or cut mullet fished near the grass edges. Lower tides are also revealing tailing reds in the creeks and mud flats, offering great opportunities for casting artificials or soaking bait. Flounder have made a steady showing, especially near creek mouths and along sandy drop-offs. Finger mullet and mud minnows on a Carolina rig have been the top producers, with most flatfish falling in the 14–18” range. Water clarity has been decent with the tides settling down, but recent afternoon storms can still stir things up—so check your timing. Mosquitoes and no-see-ums are out in force, so bring spray and stay prepared. Overall, the inshore action is strong and should remain solid through the rest of June. This is a great time to fish Midway’s scenic tidal waters before the peak heat of July rolls in.

Spring Bites Heating Up in Coastal Georgia Waters fishing report coverpicture

April 15, 2025

Midway Historic District - Liberty, GA BackCountry Report on 15th Apr, 2025

Fishing around St. Catherine’s Sound has been steady, with great opportunities for inshore anglers targeting a mix of popular species. The warming spring temperatures and active tides have created solid conditions across the flats, creek mouths, and grass lines. Redfish are biting well on live shrimp and cut bait, especially during the outgoing tide. Most action is coming from shallow flats near oyster beds and marsh edges. Anglers are reporting slot-sized reds and a few over-slot fish mixed in. Speckled Trout are showing up in greater numbers as water temps climb into the 60s. Soft plastics and popping cork rigs have been producing good results, particularly around deeper drop-offs and along current seams. Flounder activity is picking up as well, with more consistent catches coming from sandy bottoms and near dock pilings. Gulp baits and finger mullet are the go-to choices right now. There’s also been some good Whiting action off sandy points and near deeper channels, which makes for fun and easy fishing with light tackle. Meanwhile, Tarpon haven’t made their full push into the area yet, but it won’t be long before early arrivals start showing up. Bait is becoming more abundant inshore, and with tides running strong this week, the bite should stay productive. Now’s a great time to book a St. Catherine’s Sound fishing charter and take advantage of these prime spring conditions.
